A Possible Understanding of the Allegorical Narrative of Genesis

"In the beginning..." This is an overall summary.
  1. "The earth (ha'aretz) While it does use ha'aretz in this sentence, remember that it is speaking about things perhaps beyond mortal understanding. Perhaps ha'aretz in this case refers to existence itself, rather than a dirt-based planet.
  2. "Was astonishingly empty (tohu v'vohu)" Or, 'formless and void'. Thus, no matter existed. No energy existed. No universe existed. There was no 'space' to put anything.
  3. "The spirit (ruach) of God was hovering over the face of the waters" Perhaps the water is the concept of physicality? Maybe water represents space-time. And, then the 'face' would be how space-time represents itself to non-space-time. 'God's ruach' could then be the activation of something separate from God. So, this concept would be that a separate creation of God -- that is, 'God's Ruach' -- impacts space-time in a way that the space-time is now not-God.
  4. "Let there be light." There was a complete void. No matter. No energy. Then energy was brought out of the nothingness.
  5. "God separated the darkness and the light." Homogeneity was done away with and there were 'pockets' of higher and lower energy.
  6. Separation of 'waters' This is the creation of space. So now there are non-homogeneous energy and there are differing spaces.
  7. Dry land This is the creation of physical matter.
