The left cannot be trusted to defend our country or honor. In addition, it has become the refuge of all those that hate Jews and anything jewish.

We keep being told the lies that the conservatives or the "right" are racists or are going to be anti-jewish. In reality, anyone can be anti-anything. Neigher right nor left are going to be purely on the side of the good. BUT, since the rise of Communism, Naziism (National Socialist party), and modern Liberalism, those on the left have consistently worked against Jews and/or Judaism.

Much of the blogosphere is all atwitter about Iran forcing Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians to wear badges to show they are non-muslim.

The hysteria over a single news source is, I believe, indicative of an overreaction in many quarters.

Just because the "news" is believable is no reason to assume its inherent truthfulness. Truthiness should not replace truthfulness.

Bloggers may not be journalists (heck, even most "journalists" aren't journalists), but there should be some modicum of fact-checking involved. I believe this is especially important with something as inflamatory as this issue.

Interestingly, IsraPundit is using another single source to question the validity of the original story.

Both the original story and the questioning response are Canadian. Perhaps we should either investigate or sit back before blogging as if either report were valid.

Dual Citizenship means Loss of Clearance

Some Jews with dual USA-Israeli citizenship are losing their security clearances.

The usual suspects are complaining about discrimination, anti-semitism, and (would you believe it) concentration camps.

I'm sorry, but these bozos need to lose their security clearances now! I've worked in the Intelligence Community for over 22 years. With a long beard, and tzitzis hanging out, no one doesn't recognize that I'm Jewish and religious. I've never had any problems or questions about any kind of security issue.

If these folk would renounce their Israeli citizenship, then the problem would, most likely, go away. Instead, they pretend that having citizenship in a FOREIGN country should not be cause for dismissal. Would they feel the same way if a person, say assigned to the State Department, had dual USA-Iranian or USA-Palestinian Authority citizenship? The answer is: Of course not! For these folk, rules only apply to others, not for them.

Pat Robertson is the new Jean Dixon

From the Associated Press:

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- The Rev. Pat Robertson says God has told him that storms and possibly a tsunami will hit America's coastline this year.

The founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network has told viewers of "The 700 Club" that the revelations came to him during his annual personal prayer retreat in January.

"If I heard the Lord right about 2006, the coasts of America will be lashed by storms," Robertson said May 8.

He added specifics in Wednesday's show.

"There well may be something as bad as a tsunami in the Pacific Northwest," he said.

Since the probability of hurricanes has already been predicted by William Gray of Colorado State University, his prediction is worthless.

Even his prediction that a tsunami will hit America's coastline this year is qualified by the word possibly. Thus, if it doesn't hit, then he can claim that "The Lord heard my prayers," or some such garbage. If a tsunami does hit, he will claim precognition. This is the same gambit that tabloid prognosticators use. Predict much, ignore the misses, and promote the hits.

If the current year ends with no tsunami, I would like to see the Rev. Robertson publicly admit he was wrong, doesn't hear the word of G-d, and announce his retirement from public life.

Update 3 October '06:

MIAMI (Reuters) - A noted U.S. hurricane forecaster said on Tuesday the milder-than-expected Atlantic season will produce just two more tropical storms and no more "major" hurricanes due to El Nino conditions in the Pacific.

The season has so far seen nine tropical storms, of which five reached hurricane strength. William Gray's forecast team at Colorado State University said that by November 30, the end of the official six-month season, the total will be just 11 storms, with one more hurricane.

Hurricane forecasts, including Gray's, have been wildly off target this year following last year's record-breaking season, when 28 tropical storms formed, besting the old mark of 21 set in 1933. Among the worst of last year's storms was Hurricane Katrina, which swamped New Orleans and killed 1,500 people along the U.S. Gulf Coast.

At the beginning of the 2006 season, the Colorado State team predicted there would be 17 tropical storms and said nine would turn into hurricanes with sustained winds of 74 miles per hour (119 km per hour) or more.

Sgt Jose Gomez - Resident Alien - Hero

While on the treadmill today, listening to CNN, they had a report about Jose Gomez.

Jose was killed in Iraq by an IED on April 28th.

The report was interesting in that he apparently didn't tell his mother or step-father he was going to Iraq for the second time, in order to spare his mother the worry about him.

CNN interviewed his mother and step-father. His mother is *NOT* an english speaker. She came to America with her son after his father died. They are resident aliens.

Unfortunately, the CNN anchorette attempted to inject a political issue by referring to them as illegal immigrants. She was corrected by the reporter (albeit gently). The reporter went on to report that it is common in these kinds of cases that the government will offer to make the deceased soldier an American Citizen posthumously.

I'd love to see a letter-writing campaign to the mother, thanking her for her son's service to this country.
