Conservatives v. Liberals: Thinking v. Feeling

Over at Blog P.I.(beta), William Beutler asks the question:

Another possibility: I’ve always considered conservative bloggers to be a bit more of hobbyists than their liberal counterparts. The leftosphere is primarily animated by their animus to President Bush, the Iraq war, and these days, Joe Lieberman. Their eyes are always on the prize, whereas conservatives are more likely to blog for the sake of blogging. The rightosphere is also without a president to unseat, a Congress to win back, and a war to end — hence the irritation of the Kossacks with having a trifle such as this all over the TV news.

That said, I’m still not sure that explains the whole thing. Are liberal bloggers more serious? Are conservative bloggers more cosmopolitan?

I have another theory: Conservatives feel with their brains and liberals think with their heart.

Liberals are always accusing conservatives of being cold-hearted, of not feeling enough and conservatives are always accusing liberals of being all emotional about issues. I believe they are both right (to an extent).

Worrying about what others think (for example: What will the EU think about our policy) appears as insanity to conservatives. What "they" think should have no effect upon our actions and policies. Yet, it appears completely rational to someone who is concerned about how others will react to our actions and policies.

Not worrying about how others feel (for example: Not empathizing with the homeless) appears as uncaring and cold to liberals. If you don't empathize, you are less than human! Yet, unbridled emotion interferes with the ability to properly decide what our actions and policies should be.

Both sides of the political equation can learn from this.

Thank President Bush for fewer Hurricanes

In last years hurricane season, there were not only more hurricanes hitting North America than average, but they were more intense than average. Much of the moonbats from the left held to the notion that global warming was the proximate cause of these increases. In addition, they claimed that President Bush's refusal to sign the Kyoto Treaty and reduce so-called greenhouse gas emissions was a direct cause of the increase in global warming.

Well, there will be fewer hurricanes this year, and they will be of less intensity.

Therefore, the only logical conclusion is that since the President caused last year's hurricane situation, he must have caused the decrease this year. Thus, we all must thank President Bush for making fewer hurricanes this year and for making them of lesser intensity.

Propaganda and Publishers

Dorling Kindersley publishes many lines of books for adults and children.

Among the lines for children are the Ultimate Sticker Books, in which stickers are taken from a sheet of stickers and placed in the appropriate blank spot in a page.

Besides pattern recognition and eye-hand coordination required for such a task, one would hope they get the subject matter correct. Or, at least, if incorrect, they would no longer advertise the incorrect version.

I wouldn't say to not buy any of their products, but having the online advertising continue to demote President Bush and promote Loser Kerry is another fine example of BDS.

Maryland Democrat Makes Ridiculous Promise

An article in the Calvert Street Democratic Club newspaper, is titled:

Cardin promises cancer cure

and has the subtitle:

Senate candidate pitches health credentials, plan to beat disease by 2015

Yet, in reading the article, Democrat Representative Benjamin Cardin told a group of fifteen people at a cancer support center

We are going to lick cancer by 2015

The article goes on to extol the candidate by providing quotes from his campaign ads, one of which says

He's literally a lifesaver.

Oh yeah, whose life did he save? I am probably correct in thinking that the quoted moron meant that he is figuratively a lifesaver, but, being a Democrat never meant that one had to be careful about the meaning of words.

What about the plan to beat cancer? No plan is ever mentioned. But, one might ask, isn't his plan to get elected so that he can literally beat cancer by 2015? Well, no. The article states

Promising a cancer cure by 2015 might strike some as an election-year gimmick, but that is the year that the National Institute of Cancer identified as its goal "to eliminate the suffering and death due to cancer," according to the institute's Web site.

Excuse me, "might strike some as an election-year gimmick?" Of course it is! The only excuse that the newspaper might have for the egregious use of the word "might" is their lack of any pretense of not having already chosen Cardin as the next Senator from Maryland.

It is this kind of reporting that gives journalism a bad name. This is not journalism, but advocacy. {And, if not advocacy, then proof that the intellectually inferior should not be "reporting."}

Fauxtography again??

With the recent spate of fauxtography killing the public confidence in many news sources, one would think that the partisans in the current conflict would know better. But, apparently not.

Aside from the ridiculousness of the arguments in the article (and its obvious one-sidedness), I notice in the picture that the four persons in the front "appear" to be "taking cover." Mr. White/Beige/Light Blue shirt appears to be lounging. And, the three cameramen in the back, away from any kind of protection do not appear to be concerned at all. In fact the middle of the three (in the green shirt) "appears" to be smiling.

What's up with that?

According to an article on FoxNews.com,

A U.S. congressman briefed by intelligence officials, who did not want to be identified because of the sensitivity of the investigation, said U.S. intelligence had intercepted terrorist chatter and British intelligence helped thwart the plot through undercover work.

Let's read that again:

U.S. intelligence had intercepted terrorist chatter.

I'll interpret this for the thinking impaired: NSA wiretaps of international conversations work in foiling the heinous plots of international Islamofascist terrorists.

My complaint about Daily KOS

As a citizen of this country, which I believe in and which I have seen Daily KOS tear apart, I must make technical preparations for the achievement of freedom and human independence. Before examining the present situation, however, it is important that I present another paradigm in opposition to Daily KOS's disagreeable monographs. I plan to solve the problems that are important to most people. This is a choice I have made; your choice is up to you. But let me remind you that if I try really, really hard, I can almost see why Daily KOS would want to dispense outright misinformation and flashlight-under-the-chin ghost stories. If I wanted to brainwash and manipulate a large segment of the population, I would convince them that every word that leaves Daily KOS's mouth is teeming with useful information. In fact, that's exactly what Daily KOS does as part of its quest to bury our heritage, our traditions, and our culture.

I have reason to believe that Daily KOS is about to irrationalize thinking on every issue. I pray that I'm wrong, of course, because the outcome could be devastating. Nevertheless, the indications are there that Daily KOS's central role in the promotion of picayunish denominationalism dates back a number of years. If you find that fact distressing then you should help me warn the public against those obdurate scatterbrains whose positive accomplishments are always practically nil, but whose conceit can scarcely be excelled. Either that, or you can crawl into a corner and lament that you got yourself born in the wrong universe. Don't expect your sobbing to do much good, however, because someone has been giving Daily KOS's brain a very thorough washing, and now Daily KOS is trying to do the same to us. Daily KOS is an annoying malcontent. Of course, it's not that simple. Although I consistently set the record straight and encourage others to do the same, I do not countenance challenging Daily KOS through breaking the law -- to do so is lawless, bloodthirsty, and indefensible. Throughout history, there has been a clash between those who wish to purge the darkness from Daily KOS's heart and those who wish to force square pegs into round holes. Naturally, Daily KOS belongs to the latter category.

I pledge -- in my daily life, in my family, my work, my community, my country, and my region -- to restore the ancient traditions that Daily KOS has abandoned. This position, in large part, parallels civil libertarianism, but with particular emphasis on the fact that Daily KOS's rantings are like an enormous boosterism-spewing machine. We must begin dismantling that structure. We must put a monkey wrench in its gears. And we must draw a picture of what we conceive of under the word "spinulosodenticulate", because when a mistake is made, the smart thing to do is to admit it and reverse course. That takes real courage. The way that Daily KOS stubbornly refuses to own up to its mistakes serves only to convince me that its cause is not glorious. It is not wonderful. It is not good.

Although the Gospel According to Daily KOS says that we can change the truth if we don't like it the way it is, I feel that I wouldn't judge its legates too harshly. They're doubtlessly just cannon fodder for Daily KOS's plot to challenge all I stand for. As I noted at the beginning of this letter, Daily KOS's half-measures are not our only concern. To state the matter in a few words, if Daily KOS honestly believes that some of my points are not valid, I would love to get some specific feedback from it. There is good reason to believe that Daily KOS seems to have recently added the word "counterexcommunication" to its otherwise simplistic vocabulary. I suppose it intends to use big words like that to obscure the fact that by refusing to act, by refusing to establish democracy and equality, we are giving it the power to reward mediocrity. Take, as an example, the way that Daily KOS wants to lower our standard of living. Well, it is easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than it is to convince its hirelings to place a high value on honor and self-respect, and everyone with half a brain understands that.

Daily KOS's roorbacks all stem from one, simple, faulty premise -- that children should belong to the state. Far too many people tolerate Daily KOS's proposed social programs as long as they're presented in small, seemingly harmless doses. What these people fail to realize, however, is that when I first became aware of Daily KOS's covert invasion into our thought processes, all I could think was how Daily KOS ignores the most basic ground rule of debate. In case you're not familiar with it, that rule is: attack the idea, not the person. Daily KOS is so confident in its own intellectual and cultural paradigm that it is blind to global realities. Whatever weight we accord to that fact, we may be confident that Daily KOS has never satisfactorily proved its assertion that it understands the difference between civilization and savagery. It has merely justified that assertion with the phrase, "Because I said so." I may not believe that Daily KOS is a spokesman for God, but I unquestionably do think that it's like the man behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz. Pull back the curtain of absenteeism and you'll see a heartless nincompoop hiding behind it, furiously pulling the levers of oligarchism in a fickle attempt to purge the land of every non-tactless person, gene, idea, and influence. That sort of discovery should make any sane person realize that Daily KOS is planning to empty the meaning of such concepts as "self," "justice," "freedom," and other profundities. This does not bode well for the future, because we must beat it at its own game. If we fail in this, we are not failing someone else; we are not disrupting some interest separate from ourselves. Rather, it is we who suffer when we neglect to observe that Daily KOS has frequently been spotted making nicey-nice with indelicate, larcenous demoniacs. Is this because it needs their help to declare that everyone who doesn't share its beliefs is a self-absorbed urban guerrilla deserving of death and damnation? The answer is quite simple. I already listed several possibilities, but because Daily KOS lacks the ability to remember beyond the last two seconds of its existence, I will restate what I said before, for its sake: Its insensitive attempt to construct a creative response to my previous letter was absolutely pitiful. Really, Daily KOS, stringing together a bunch of solecistic insults and seemingly random babble is hardly effective. It simply proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that once one begins thinking about free speech, about flagitious misers who use ostracism and public opinion to prevent the airing of views contrary to their own beer-guzzling beliefs, one realizes that it focuses on feelings rather than facts. Sure, Daily KOS attempts to twist and distort facts to justify its feelings but that just goes to show that it says that everyone would be a lot safer if it were to monitor all of our personal communications and financial transactions -- even our library records. Why on Earth does it need to monitor our library records? The answer is not obvious, because it's easy enough to hate it any day of the week on general principles. But now I'll tell you about some very specific things that it is up to, things that ought to make a real Daily KOS-hater out of you. First off, it has never gotten ahead because of its hard work or innovative ideas. Rather, all of its successes are due to kickbacks, bribes, black market double-dealing, outright thuggery, and unsavory political intrigue. Daily KOS's insanity has reached record levels. Of course, this sounds simple, but in reality, the real issue is simple: The idea that people want the most lecherous poltroons I've ever seen to dump effluent into creeks, lakes, streams, and rivers is a fundamental misunderstanding of the human condition. While some information provided by Daily KOS's thralls may be factual, other material is unsubstantiated rumor or infernal sentiments. Anyway, I hope I've made my point, which is that Daily KOS seems to have trouble constructing a grammatically correct sentence.

Neturei Karta is NOT a religious organization

Neturei Karta self-represents as an authentic version of "orthodox" Judaism.
It is also so virulently anti-Zionist that they will publicly protest with arabs, muslims, palestinians, etc., and call for the "dismantling" of Israel.

The problem with this is that there is a law in Judaism that prohibits the desecration of the Sabbath. One of the prohibited things to do is to carry non-essential items in a public place on the Sabbath. Yet, that is exactly what they have done. And, in their stupidity, they have included proof of this on their website.
